Dalla loro &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;affermazione&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt; il confine tra il noto e l'ignoto, tra il mondo della "civiltà" e chi "civile" non era, venne a cadere. La velocità comprimendo ogni luogo, ogni oggetto, determinava una percezione sintetica, istantanea dello spazio.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;il viaggiatore aveva l'impressione di aver vissuto il viaggio in treno come uno "sparo" attraverso il paesaggio. La reazione generale dei primi anni fu di shock, poi &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;gradualmente&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt; si attenuò.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Il primo passo verso l'"era dei costruttori", auspice Salomon &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Rothschild&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;, fu la costruzione della ferrovia che segnò un avvio all'industrializzazione e alla "grande Vienna" dei cittadini venuti da tutto l'impero, nonché l'ascesa della borghesia viennese di provenienza tedesca e delle sue &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;rivendicazioni&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;costituzionali&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;. Nel 1939 venne inaugurata la "Kaiser-&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Ferdinands&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;-Nord-&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Bahn&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;" in onore di Ferdinando che era stato coinvolto da &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Rothschild&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;della necessità di costruzione della linea che congiungeva Vienna con Praga.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Nel 1842 venne aperto il &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;primo tratto Vienna - Gloggnitz della Ferrovia Meridionale. Suddivisa in diverse linee, la cui costruzione, iniziata con fondi privati e poi affidata all'i.r. Direzione Generale delle Ferrovie dello Stato, fondata il 13 marzo 1842, venne portata a termine nel 1857, collegava l'hinterland danubiano con Trieste, il cui emporio, proprio a partire da quegli anni, iniziò ad affermarsi come grande porto commerciale. Nel 1844 venne aperto il tratto Mürzzuschlag-Graz.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Risalgono a questo periodo i primi viaggi di gruppo in ferrovia che verrano potenziati durante la costruzione degli importanti manufatti del Semmering e soprattuttto dopo il superamento del passo. Era stato lo stesso imperatore a volerle presentare. Nel padiglione di legno ad esse dedicato di tipo moresco "vaghissime nereidi", vestite delle pittoresche fogge nazionali, offrivano ai visitatori in bicchieri in cristallo di Boemia "rabescati e colorati" le acque solfuree di Baden, le acque minerali di Franzenbrunner, quelle di Karlsbad, quelle di Cronstadt, quelle di Salzburg e ancora quelle ungheresi e galiziane. Da allora la frequenza aumentò in modo vertiginoso nelle stazioni già note, mentre incominciarono ad affermarsi località che, lungo la linea ferroviaria, erano raggiungibili comodamente.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Frequentate inizialmente da nobili e possidenti, si trasformarono in luoghi di soggiorno - e non solo salutistici- scelti anche dal ceto medio. Il Reno infatti non era più solo un confine ma rappresentava l'anima segreta del mondo tedesco. Anche il forestiero non riusciva a sottrarsi alla malia di questo fiume. Il flusso turistico sostenuto dalla nascente navigazione sul fiume si potenziò da quando la &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Preußisch-Rheinische Dampfschifffahrtsgesellschaft &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;offrì ai passeggeri la possibilità di navigare da Colonia a Magonza. Il turismo sul Reno si trasformò in fattore economico. Lo stesso accadde anche per il Danubio. I sei battelli appartenenti un tempo alla &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Società di navigazione sul Danubio &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;erano stati acquisiti dal Lloyd Austriaco che si spingeva fino a Galatz e a Costantinopoli.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Per "reclamizzare" questa importante linea di navigazione la sezione artistico-letteraria del Lloyd pubblicò nel 1856 l'&lt;/span&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Album malerisher Donau-Ansichten &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;affidando a Rudolf von Alt l'esecuzione delle tavole. Era stato finalmente completato l’ultimo tratto da Lubiana (Ferrovia del Carso, rappresentata nel panorama di Weidmann-Varoni), dopo che tre anni prima era stata aperta la Ferrovia del Semmering, il cui progetto di Carlo Ghega era stato realizzato con gli stanziamenti del Governo Austriaco. Si era concretizzato il disegno auspicato e fortemente voluto da Karl Ludwig von Bruck, più volte ministro e fondatore del Lloyd Austriaco di Trieste, personalità moderna e innovativa, considerato uno degli ideatori del concetto di Mitteleuropa, precursore dell’intermodalità tra vie marittime e trasporti terrestri e grande sostenitore di Carlo Ghega, di cui seppe riconoscere e apprezzare la genialità e il coraggio innovativo. I viaggi da maggio a settembre avvenivano alla domenica e in alcune festività; la partenza era fissata alle 5.25 del mattino, il rientro a Vienna alle 23.46. “Viaggi di piacere” vennero organizzati anche con destinazione Trieste, già nota per i suoi bagni. Il Soglio di Nettuno era già stato citato nella guida di Pietro Kandler del 1844. Recentissimo era invece lo stabilimento balneario Maria, prima struttura galleggiante dell’Adriatico, prospiciente le Rive. Tedeschi, austriaci, francesi, inglesi, ungheresi riversarono le loro esperienze in memorie di viaggio, con cui seppero intrattenere i lettori alternando argomenti ameni a profonde riflessioni, a citazioni letterarie, ed emozioni di fronte alle testimonianze del passato. Proprio perché libri di intrattenimento, “influenzarono” le scelte sulle mete turistiche; in particolare i libri di Heinrich Noé e di Josef Rabl ebbero grandissimo successo, si da avere diverse edizioni.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font: 12.0px Arial; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"&gt;Molti di loro scrissero anche raffinate guide letterarie, i cui itinerari alla scoperta di sempre nuove emozioni, stimolarono la curiosità del viaggiatore ad intraprendere il viaggio nel giardino meridionale dell’Impero, senza uscire dai suoi confini.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;La graduale standardizzazione del viaggio consentì l’accessibilità ai litorali dalmati ad un numero sempre maggiore di persone. La scoperta delle coste stando seduti comodamente in lussuosi salotti, la fruizione dei luoghi, lo spostarsi di corsa da una tappa all’altra senza rendersi conto che il fatto stesso di spostarsi costituì la vera esperienza del viaggio. Il fascino del nuovo si stemperava in una&amp;nbsp; sorta di noia perché tutto accadeva come da copione: il viaggiatore era ormai un perfetto turista. Il viaggiatore dei vapori del &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;Lloyd&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt; eseguiva l'itinerario fluviale, danubiano, che attraverso i paesi balcanici, porta nel cuore dell'impero ottomano e da qui prosegue per i porti &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;mediterranei&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"&gt;, oppure quello marittimo con partenza da Trieste. Era un viaggiatore spinto da motivazioni diverse. Con il treno si copriva parte del tragitto, poi si proseguiva a piedi per un'escursione lungo strade periferiche verso alture circostanti la città, o verso luoghi distanti anche parecchi chilometri. Ci si doveva ritemprare e immagazzinare energia per ricominciare in forma la settimana. Il Semmering per i viennesi, le Alpi tirolesi, le Alpi di Villacco, per noi tutti il Tricorno e i suoi vassalli. Le Alpi Giulie per le scalate la zona di Bohinj per le escursioni intorno al lago e d'inverno per praticare sport come lo sci e lo slittino.
